Vision & Values

Vision

As commissioner Larry seeks to create a Utah County where individuals and families can realize their dreams and aspirations.
Economic Well-Being: A strong economic base is critical to supporting our infrastructure needs, including education and transportation. We need a vibrant business climate to create jobs to sustain our community today and we need to create jobs for our children and grandchildren.

Transportation: A top priority as commissioner is to find long-term solutions to Utah County's critical transportation issues. Mobility is the key to economic development and the quality of life.

Fiscal Responsibility: Commissioners need to be wise stewards of the taxpayers' dollars in delivering necessary services to the residents of Utah County.

Safety: This is a key ingredient in ensuring that we are able to maintain an outstanding quality of life. We must remain diligent in out efforts and encourage everyone to become involved in creating safe neighborhoods.

Growth: As Utah County continues to experience some of the fastest growth rate in the state, we need leadership that can harness the collective wisdom and ideas of Utah County residents to help in managing that growth.

Balance: We must be diligent in protecting individual rights while allowing freedoms to be exercised in a spirit of well-being for all.

Values

Larry Ellertson believes in the following principles as it relates to being a county commissioner:

Representation: A commissioner needs to represent the interests of the entire county.

Role of Government: Government exists to serve the people.

Cooperation: The best government can occur when there is a strong spirit of dialogue and when government at all levels work together to meet the needs of its constituents.

Accessibility: A commissioner should provide opportunities for all interested stakeholders to provide input and to gain understanding of key issues and the government process.

Sound Judgement: Leaders must first understand the issues and then be guided by the principles of fairness and seeking the greatest common good.
