Biography


Larry Ellertson


Commissioner Larry Ellertson was raised in Mona, Utah. He graduated from Southern Utah State College in 1972. He worked as a CPA for Haskins and Sells in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1977 he began working for Utah Power and Light and held many positions including Region Customer Service Manager, Area Manager, and General Business Manager prior to retiring in 2001.

Commissioner Ellertson and his wife Linda (Christiansen) are the parents of five children and eleven grandchildren and reside in Lindon.

In November of 1996 he was appointed to serve as Mayor of Lindon City and served until January 2005 when he was elected to the Utah County Commission.

In 2000 he was the recipient of Utah Lt. Governors Civic Volunteer of the Year Award. He received the Southern Utah State College Distinguished Alumni Business Award in 1997, and was also the recipient of the Southern Utah University Outstanding Alumni Award in 2010. He has served as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America in addition to various ecclesiastical callings and service opportunities in the community.

Commissioner Ellertson has served as Chairman of the Utah County Commission, Chairman of Council of Governments, Chairman of the Utah Transit Authority Board of Trustees, 1st Vice President & board member of Utah Association of Counties (UAC), member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Steering Committee, President & board member of Utah League of Cities & Towns, Chairman of the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce, Chairman and board member of United Way of Utah County, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Mountainland Association of Governments, Rotary Club President, Chairman of the Utah Citizen Corps Council, Chairman of the Utah Intergovernmental Roundtable, Board member of the Solid and Hazardous Waste Control Board, and many others.

Relative to UAC service, Larry was recently named President of UAC for 2011. He has served on the USACCC Steering Committee, Budget Committee, Critical Lands Subcommittee, Public Lands Committee, and the Dues Committee.
